I design products people feel, not just use.

Hi, I'm Vincent Vanderhaeghen, a product developer working where physical prototyping, user experience and technology meet. From smart home switches to a medical orthosis for infants, I turn ideas into tangible products that combine thoughtful design with practical functionality.

ITER

A capture device for travelling lovers

Discipline
User Experience
Team
2 people
Duration
6 weeks

The brief: Design a capture device that allows users to store memories, incorporating user experience and embodied interaction.

ITER is made for travelling lovers. During the journey you rediscover what makes the other person special, encounter things that remind you of them, and constantly wonder: "Where are they now?" With ITER we wanted the connection between two lovers to be more than just sending a photo. It lets you be present in the moment and keeps the connection with the other person as strong as possible.

Piqo

The photo booth, reimagined as a ritual

Discipline
Interaction Design
Team
3 people
Duration
8 weeks

The brief: Design for Interaction challenges us to turn everyday moments into meaningful experiences.

With Piqo we reimagined the photo booth as a ritual instead of a device. Mounted on a wall in cafés, at events and parties, Piqo invites people to pause, pose and preserve a memory. Through a blend of tactile interaction, projected visuals and a physical keepsake, it creates a playful yet intimate moment of connection. The interaction is not just with the product, but with the people around you, captured in a token you carry home.

TPMEC

Authentic mechanical control, discreet digital intelligence

Discipline
Internship Designer · Teletask
Team
2 people
Duration
25 weeks

The brief: Combine intuitive mechanical control with smart home technology in a timeless, elegant design.

TPMEC reimagines the traditional light switch by combining authentic mechanical toggle switches with the intelligence of modern home automation. Its modular design allows one, two or three toggle configurations, and nine architectural finishes in aluminium, brass and stainless steel let users match a wide range of interiors. Integrated sensors measure temperature, humidity and VOC, with a buzzer and night LED on board. Timeless design for the smart home.

ImmoFlex

Soft support, strong fixation

Discipline
Master's Thesis
Team
1 person
Duration
36 weeks

The brief: Design an orthosis for infants with developmental dysplasia of the hip, providing controlled immobilization while improving comfort, hygiene and usability compared to the traditional spica cast.

For my master's thesis I developed ImmoFlex, a textile orthosis for infants with severe developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). A soft multilayer textile structure is combined with a UV-curable immobilization layer, so the orthosis stays flexible during application and becomes rigid after curing. It improves comfort, hygiene and daily care while maintaining the required hip immobilization. Combining standard sizes with patient-specific modelling, ImmoFlex offers a scalable approach for future orthopaedic applications.

Added value

  • Hospital & doctorsFast, intuitive application · patient-specific modelling · reliable immobilization via UV curing
  • Patient & parentsMore comfort · easier daily care · fewer skin irritations · lighter and less invasive
  • Business potentialLow material cost · expandable to other orthopaedic applications

3D Mechanism

Three candies lifted 120 cm, powered only by gravity

All energy had to come from the gravitational potential energy of three pétanque balls. A single activation triggers the mechanism, with no further interaction allowed, and the whole structure had to disassemble into a box of 420 × 297 × 65 mm. I chose to lift three candies over the maximum vertical distance of 120 cm.

CAD Surfaces

Surface modelling for injection moulding

Starting from a reference image of a vacuum cleaner concept, I rebuilt the full multi-part exterior in SolidWorks with surface modelling, with split lines, wall thickness and draft prepared for injection moulding.

Digital Sketching

Concept sketching in Adobe

A robotic lawnmower, a portable device, a bike-share kiosk and a snowmobile. Concept sketches built up in Photoshop from reference imagery to presentation-ready renderings.

About me.

Portrait of Vincent Vanderhaeghen

I'm a product development engineer based in Antwerp, Belgium. I like projects where the physical and the digital meet: a toggle that talks to your smart home, a photo booth that becomes a ritual, a cast that turns soft into rigid with UV light.

Outside the studio you'll find me doing sports, travelling the world, cooking and, unsurprisingly, 3D printing. Those interests feed straight into how I design: hands-on, curious and always prototyping.
